Who: A 54-year-old man from Coquitlam, British Columbia
Where: Mt. Baker, Washington
His mistake: Looks like he took a bad line
What happened: A husband and wife planned on enjoying a nice day in the snow on Mt. Baker in Washington. The woman was snowshoeing while the man went skiing. They ascended up a route toward Artist Point southwest of the Mt. Baker ski area.
When the woman was unable to find her husband, she hiked around to look for him. She was unable to find him and hiked to the Mt. Baker ski area for help. Ski Patrol checked the ski area and were not able to find him. They called 911 for authorities to join the search.
Roughly three hours later, the man was found. He was buried in 18 inches of snow about 60 to 80 yards from the backcountry gates. Authorities believe the man fell head first off of a cornice and got buried
