Trail Access Information
The following trails in Strathcona Provincial Park are not regularly maintained: Della Falls, Marble Meadows, Crest Mountain, Phillips Ridge, Upper Myra Falls, Kings Peak, Tennant Lake, Forbidden Plateau (Mount Beecher and Plateau Traverse), and Flower Ridge. Although these trails remain open, users may encounter fallen trees and/or trail washouts. Public Safety issues may exist. Extra caution is advised. Please advise BC Parks of any public safety conditions that you encounter if you hike these trails.
Tennent Creek Trail is OPEN: Repairs to the Tennent Creek Bridge were completed in October 2009.
Della Falls Trail is CLOSED: To ensure the safety of visitors, the Della Falls trail has been closed due to the failure of the bridge at the 11km crossing. Bridge is being replaced by a cable car and is expected to be completed by mid August 2010. Updates will be posted.
Crest Mountain Trail is OPEN: With the help of Friends of Strathcona Park a temporary alternate trail has been established which will enable bypass of the condemned access bridge at existing trailhead. The temporary route starts approximately 1.3 km closer to Gold River, and will connect to the existing trail. The temporary trailhead is marked. BC Parks is currently assessing options and will either replace bridge this year, or pursue an alternative permanent trail around lake to avoid bridge area. View the temporary alternate trail map.
Lower Bedwell River Trail is CLOSED: (Bedwell Lake to Bedwell Sound): Trail is closed until further notice due to unsafe bridge crossings. Friends of Strathcona Park will be assisting BC Parks to resolve this issue by scouting the area to determine if alternate bypass routes around condemned bridges are feasible. More information will be posted
Upper Myra Falls Trail is Closed: Trail is closed until further notice due to a damaged boardwalk over a steep embankment. Boardwalk is in the process of being replaced with an expected completion date of mid July 2010. Updates will be posted.
