下面是引用"Different"的评论。。 如果侨胞了解M14,一定知道这个叫different的人。。很多人都重视个名誉,不会信口开河
"Ron Smith, Smith Enterprise, Inc., filled me in yesterday on how the M21A5/C-IED fared this week at Fort Benning. As an aside, the M14 rifle was first tested at Fort Benning, GA in September 1959. Well, forty-eight years later our beloved M14 is "back at Benning" for more testing and evaluation. 8)
When I was at the SHOT Show early last month, Smith Enterprise, Inc. had a demonstration M21A5/C-IED on display. You can see most of that rifle (the one on the left) in the linked photo: http://www.imageseek.com/m1a/gallery/albums/civilian/shtshw.jpg
At the SHOT Show, Ron said this rifle was going to Fort Benning immediately thereafter. Apparently, the U. S. Army is still interested in evaluating a precision 7.62 mm NATO platform. The M110 was fielded last year but it seems some further review of the matter is being conducted.
I did not ask what day(s) the M110 was tested but it was. The M110 shot MOA at 1000 yards at Fort Benning. The feedback from troops in the sandbox is that the M110 isn't always consistent and the sand over there affects its operation. The SEI demonstration M21A5/C-IED was tested on 03/28/08. Using M118LR ammunition at 100 yards, the SEI demonstration M21A5/C-IED printed a 3/4 " five shot group. At 1000 yards, the shot group was less than 10 " using M118LR ammunition.
Since this is a demonstration rifle, the receiver is not USGI. The receiver is a LRB Arms M14SA unit, serial number 018XX. Otherwise, the rifle was built to M21A5/C-IED specifications. Major parts (medium weight 22 " 1:10 ROT M118LR chambered molybdenum-chromium alloy steel barrel, receiver, firing mechanism, shimmed but not unitized gas system) are M80HT and cyrogenically treated. The M21A5/C-IED uses a USGI M14 fiberglass stock with three SEI M1913 rails at the front end. It's not bedded. There's no receiver lug and the operating rod spring guide is stock USGI M14. The scope is a Leupold & Stevens, Inc. 3.5-10x40 mm Mark 4 (R) model with the M3 turret. The scope is mated to the rifle via SEI mount and rings. The suppressor is made by Smith Enterprise, Inc. This rifle had the lightweight model suppressor. The leather sling was supplied by Turner Saddlery. With enhanced service life on the major parts and no stock bedding, the precision M14 has become soldier simple. It may now even be sailor proof." |
