I personally spent alot of time deciding between the Pallisades 80 and the Baltoro 70 including much discussion with a sales rep at REI.
After some research it was found that the Baltoro was reporting to have occasional or "some" failures at the flexing Hinge joint in the waist belt. This was dissappointing to find out because this waist belt system is extremely comfortable and deals with the problem of "load shift" very well.
The Pallisade 80 has the same hinge joint but it has an adjustable locking system which locks the belt angle into 5 different positions to adjust to your waist. The Pallisade is still very comfortable. Both Packs have a true Yoke shoulder harness which reduces pressure on shoulders.
Important point: Both packs require careful adjustment to get maximum comfort in the fit.
I think the most important thing is "being able to return it if doesn't fit". What I did was carrying a pack fully loaded around for at least an hour--it could be even in-store before you pay it, just carry it around while shopping and see how it feels.

Good point!
