Hi brother,

This is Peter from Coquitlam and I like outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and sailing very much. You are very lucky if you live in Port Moody.

I tried this trail on May this year. It's a perfect trail for a half day trip with beautiful view, along the ridge line between Indian Arm and Mount Seymour, and moderate intensity with some elevation gain, enough kill your energy but not too tired. There are many good trails nearby. We can set up some half day trip if you want.

Enjoy your hiking. :)

Long weekend trails try out

Have you been to Sigard Peak trail?

I'm thinking if I can find a couple of people to go.

I went to some trails this summer but I didn't really complete some of them due to the weather and the black bear.

The only benefit of hiking along is the time and speed control.

I've never been there even heard. But, I checked it from internet, it need 9 hours to kill 10 km (return) with 1800 m elevation gain. It sounds good. And the view is scenic reported from hikers. But I'm afraid I can't go this steep trail as my right knee which was hurt before. Half day trip nearby Tri-city is good for me.

Let me know your current condition about trails, distance, elevation gain, grade range.

We'll discuss from there

My favorite trail

Information from Clubtread

Sendero Diez Vistas

Statistics
Total Distance: 13.0 km (return)
Estimated Time: 5.5 - 7 hours
Average Grade: 7.0%
Structure: Loop - Complete
Elevation Gain:  455 m
Start Elevation: 152 m
Max Elevation: 607 m

Directions
Starting in Port Moody on Barnet Highway (#7A), turn north onto Ioco Road. After heading straight through two intersections, the road changes into Heritage Mountain Boulevard and climbs uphill. Continue for two kilometers to a roundabout, turning right Davis Avenue. A short distance later, turn left onto Forest Park Way at a four way stop then left again onto Aspenwood Drive almost immediately. Aspenwood Drive becomes East Road and leads through the village of Anmore to Sunnyside Road. Turn right, and continue to the park entrance gate. Park in the main parking lot.

During the summer months, Buntzen Lake is extremely popular - the parking lot is on a first-come basis only. Once the parking lots are full, the gate will be closed for the day. Gate opening and closing times change throughout the year. To find out the current times, call the Buntzen Lake Warden's office at 604-469-9679.

The C26 bus operates from Coquitlam Centre to the Buntzen Lake area daily. Normally the bus stops at the either the East Road / Sunnyside Road intersection or the turnaround before the gate, but on weekends and holidays in July and August continues to the Buntzen Lake parking area. For bus schedules and information, visit the Translink website. It's 15-20 minute walk (1.8 km) from the gate to the parking area.

one of my favourate trails at Sunshine coast

SKOOKUMCHUCK

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: easy
LENGTH/TIME: 2 hours (round trip)
HIGHLIGHTS: whirlpools, strong currents and rapids from as the water exits/enters the Sechelt Inlet through the narrows. One hour walk on a wide trail sheltered by the trees. Be sure to time it with the tide change for best viewing times.

ACCESS: An hour drive along Hwy 101 from Sechelt towards Earls Cove take a right on Egmont Road (if you end up at the ferry Earl’s Cove Ferry Terminal you have gone too far). Drive 5-10 minutes to Skookumchuck parking lot where you will see cars along the roadside.

Take North Point Trail to view Ebb Tide (-) or Roland Point Trail
to view Flood Tide. Floodtides are the white waters that kayakers play on Ebbs are whirlpools.

Mount Douglas Park at Saanich

Trail length: 1.5km~6km
Elevation: 228 m
Parking is available at the Cordova Bay picnic site, the park summit, and at the base of Churchill drive.

The Merriman Trail to the summit has steep sections that can be slippery, the Irvine and Norn Trails are easy.

At the summit, the 360 degree view of Victoria, the Saanich Peninsula, and the Malahat is superb; on clear days the Cascade and Olympic ranges, Gulf and San Juan Islands are viewable.

Refer to trailpeak for more info.
