Although callouts have been infrequent for this activity over the last few
years, since the beginning Wanderung has been a vehicle (no pun intended)
to propel many memorable, multi-day cycle tours. (Note: multi-day cycle
tours are an acceptable activity for Wanderung callouts.)

Spring *is* cycle touring season. Why? Many of the cycle tours closely
available to Vancouverites start at sea level.  Those that don't tend to be
in drier areas of the province. In either case, they are prime for the
riding while we wait for snow to clear in the alpine. (And there's a lot of
snow again this year.)

So, why cycle tour?

- You've probably got much of the gear already: a bike, helmet, and
panniers may be all that you need. In many of these locations multiple
types of accommodations are available and even tenting may not be needed.
- Cycle tours, unlike other outdoor pursuits, has an urban travel component
meaning you don't have to carry all of your food (did someone say
"Hummingbird Pub"?!)
- Cycle touring is the right speed. Drive the Gulf Islands (for example)
and you pass by too much, but walking won't cover the distances.
- It's cheap. Ever take a ferry with a car? Taking a bike costs only $2.
Except on the Inside Passage or Haida Gwaii routes where it's $5.
