Trip is now full; registration is closed.

The specifics of the terrain and season elements present special safety concerns that limit crew size. Hope to see you all in the next outings!  8)

TRIP STATUS: STANDBY (-AVALANCHE RISK)

According to today issued forecast, the avalanche risk for Saturday (day before the trip) will be "Considerable" at treeline and above.

"..Explosive control produced several up to size 1.5 avalanches within the storm snow.."

"..The main concern for the coming days is the unusual warming and solar radiation shock that the snowpack will take. This will weaken the snowpack and cornices which will most likely increase natural avalanche activity on SE and S aspects, but also in shaded areas because of temperatures rising to plus 5 C in the alpine! As well as surface wet slabs and loose snow avalanches, there is the possibility of it stepping down to a deeper persistent weak layer.."

http://www.avalanche.ca/cac/bulletins/latest/sea-to-sky

Decision be made tomorrow upon receiving Sunday avalanche risk forecast.

Considering Mount Harvey as PLAN B 8)

TRIP STATUS: CANCELLED DUE TO CONDITIONS

Challenging unique backcountry conditions (under blue skies!), rapid forecast updates, confusing alpine temperatures prognosis, special avalanche warnings, chaotic advices. Well, well, all these are for the coming weekend. It is a time when one has to ignore all the noise  and follow one's intuition, which yells in the face "stay home". And that's what it will be. Until next time. 8)
