hi LULU . is that we must use the bear container sold in store ? can we use the same funtioning container ? the purpose of the container is just for not let the food smell out and not let the bear steal our food ? right ? but i am thinking the bear still could carry the whole bottle with him if he smells the food. :lol: :lol:

Yes, it's safer, you do not want to take a risk, and some NP require park-approved Bear Canisters for ovenight trip, e.g. ONP

As of May 2013, all food, garbage and scented items must be stored, overnight and when unattended, in park-approved Bear Canisters along the entire Olympic National Park Wilderness Coast. Buckets or other hard-sided containers are no longer permitted.
