An amazing finish to an amazing summer! August 30, riders arrived Halifax. 9 weeks riding from Vancouver to Halifax, Congrats to all the riders, especially for those who rode the all journey. They are awesome!
Here is my lady friend, who is 63 yrs old, I rode with her on the first week, She wrote on the last day of ride
"We arrived at Black Rock Beach in Point Pleasant Park - there were lots of hugs and lots of tears - we took many, many photos - of the entire team, of the 'lifers' and many individual photos.
We had one more short (steep hill, of course - when you are ocean level there is only one way to go) to the home of a family who had offered us a place to gather, eat, cry, shower, box bikes, clean out the two trucks, etc., etc. It was a difficult time as we tried to say goodbye to our friends with whom we had lived this unbelievable nine week adventure.
Eileen drove Chris and me to our hotel (Harbourfront Marriot) - we arrived at 5:00 pm or so. I sat on the beautiful comfy bed and said to Chris, "I already feel lost because I have nothing to do!" It will be a month (or so) long process to re-adjust to what used to be normal life. I do hope though that the physical, emotional and spiritual things I experienced on the trip will change my views of life in all aspects, but especially having regard to the marginalized, those suffering from addictions, the homeless, youth violence and family breakdown."
I wish I was there. Thanks everyone for sharing with me this wonderful experience.
