"Eagle Bluffs, positioned as they are at northwestern edge of the
Lower Mainland just at the base of Howe Sound, afford great views of
the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island, the city of Vancouver, and on
a clear day the American San Juans and Mount Baker." [PT]
The trail
involves some fairly long and steep sections as it approaches the
bluffs. There is also some minor scrambling involved as the trail
crosses a lengthy boulder slide. It's a good idea to wear sturdy
hiking boots.
*DISTANCE:* 8.5 km round
*ELEVATION GAIN:* 1040 m
To travel by bus:
Take the 257 Bus which departs at 9:32 AM from the north side of
Georgia at Burrard (stop #58705). Get off at the Highway 1 overpass
at Marine
Drive (unmarked stop # 60886, which is the first stop after the bus
exits the freeway) . Backtrack the bus route for about 500 meters, and you will arrive to
the trailhead.
If you are thinking of driving, please be aware that the parking lot
at the trailhead is rather small and might easily get full. To drive
to the trail head, head west from Vancouver along Highway 1
--Take the Eagle Ridge exit (#2) and travel straight through the round-a-bout
--The trail head is about 500 metres on, on your right hand side ( at
the foot of the hill, just before the highway bridge). |
