Car break-ins and theft

Car theft at trailheads is sadly not unusual in the Lower Mainland. Every
year the popular parking lots in the Sea to Sky corridor and Chilliwack
River valley seem to be targeted by opportunistic thieves looking to steal
whatever they can get their hands on.
The RCMP recently released a list of the items most commonly stolen from
cars. Much of it is obvious but some things might raise an eyebrow. The
best approach is to leave as few removable items in your car as possible,
and if you're away overnight, take your insurance details with you. Don't
leave keys or identifiable information behind.
