|Wanderung| BCMC Centennial Hike Grouse Mtn.- June 22 Fri. eve.
INTRO and DESCRIPTION: For many of us who grew up and live at the foot of the Coast Range the mystique and beauty of the North Shore mountains have instilled a life-long desire for exploration and adventure. It was this same sense of desire that inspired many of Vancouver's early outdoor enthusiasts and who a hundred years ago formed the BC Mountaineering Club then known as the Vancouver Mountaineering Club. Many first ascents of North Shore peaks and beyond were accomplished by BCMC members at a time when there were no trails and when reaching only the tree line involved hours of bushwacking. To help celebrate its centennial year the BCMC invites the non-member public for a hike up Grouse Mtn along the old BCMC trail.
DISTANCE:
ELEVATION GAIN:
TIME NEEDED: 4 hours including slide show.
BOOK RATING: Moderate to Difficult. Because Grouse Mtn. is steep terrain this hike is not recommended for those who have been inactive for some time.

The hike will follow the BCMC trail to the middle of the Cut then follow the Simic trail back to the bottom of the Cut. At 9:30 pm the group will hike up to the Grouse Nest to the theatre for the BCMC slide show first shown at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival. Afterwards take the tram down.
