INTRO and DESCRIPTION: Still deciding what to do this Saturday? Come and join me for this rewarding hike in our own backyard before heavens open up on Sunday and start sending buckets of water our way.
I've been planning to do this hike for a while. It's attractive becasue:
- it is transit-accessible
- it is a loop so the scenery is never the same
- it allows us to bag 3 peaks along the way - Crown, Goat ang Grouse Mtn
- it's a really good exercise
- there's beer at the end of it (Grouse Chalet)
The parameters are below but as I don't have the book with me right now, all the figures are just my estimates within +/- 15% of accuracy.
DISTANCE: 18km
ELEVATION GAIN: 1100m
TIME NEEDED: 8 hrs
BOOK RATING: Moderate/Strenous
MEETING LOCATION: Lonsdale Quay, As you exit SeaBus terminal, there's a MacDonalds to your left. That's our meeting spot (outside). If you drive, there's also a pick-up/drop-off loop nearby where you can pull over and look out for the rest of the group.
MEETING TIME: 8am, there's a SeaBus departing Waterfront Station at 7:46am, our bus to Lynn Canyon leaves at 8:32am. If you miss the 7:46 ferry, the chances are you won't make it to the bus on time. If there are any drives that will meet us at Lonsdale, we'll carpool.
LATEST RETURN TIME: 7pm
AFTER HIKE PLANS: Grouse Chalet?
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF HIKERS: 8
STRICT SIGN-UP DEADLINE: none, just show up but if you can let me know by email that you're coming, I will appreciate it.
