Elfin Lakes Cabin in
Garibaldi Provincial Park

Highlights...
The Cabin
(with a WARM propane furnace, gas lighting,
stoves, and bunk beds on the 2nd floor,
see photos in the 'next trip' section)
Views of
Diamond Head,
Mt.Garibaldi,
the Opal-Cone (an extinct Volcano)
A 1.5-hour drive North of Vancouver on
The Sea-to-Sky-Hy#99 Near Squamish.
The actual hike... One-Way 11km,7miles.
But the marked WINTER route is a bit longer.
Elevation Gain 620meters,
(the trail rises on a ridge and
half way turns into a gradual
decline down to the cabin)
Average grade 5.6%
IMPORTANT
For WINTER snowshoe travel it will take
6 to 7 hours one way from the parking
lot to the cabin. We also take a break
inside the heated Red-Heather Shelter
on the way up and down.

(YES!, I DID SAY 2 LITERS,
fill an empty 2 liter pop
bottle if you have to)
( ) Flash Light
( ) Warm clothes just in case
( ) pair of Gloves
( ) Hat (ski-toque)
( ) Sun-Hat
( ) Rain gear (which is also good to help
keep you warm if it gets windy)
( ) Hiking boots recommended
( ) Sandals to wear in the cabin
( ) Gaiters if you have them
( ) 4 pairs of extra socks
( ) toothbrush, etc.
( ) Backpack to carry everything.
( ) Plastic spoon and Knife
( ) Small bowl/cup
( ) Sun-glasses
( ) Sunscreen
If you need to BORROW any of the items below you can....

Bring ready to eat snacks for Saturday on the trail.
Suggestions might be fruit, granola bars, crackers,
sandwiches, as long as it is ready to eat.
The same goes for Sunday lunch. Your snacks/lunches
for the 2 days should all fit into ONE small plastic
container like a tupper-ware container.
Do not bring the contents of your entire kitchen.
Saturday dinner and Sunday Breakfast are provided
by the club for a $10 fee. See below about Money.
There are 4 stoves in the cabin to cook on and boil water,
as well as a propane furnace and gas lighting to read by.

The overnight fee for the Elfin Lakes Shelter
run by the park rangers in Garibaldi
Provincial Park is $10. Everyone pays this fee
to BC-Parks on their own at the parking lot ticket
machine. The Cabin has 35 bunk beds upstairs, a
propane furnace, gas lighting, and stoves.
$30 will be collected when we meet at Hastings
and Cassiar from all participants for Saturday
dinner and Sunday Breakfast and snow shoe rental
if you do not have your own snow shoes.
(this money also goes towards the group equipment
and loaner equipment, such as sleeping bags, pads, etc,
that are loaned out to those who need them, and covers
use and abuse of the group equipment)
