Grouse Grind and British Columbia Mountaineering Club (BCMC) trail closed due to unstable boulders

Metro Vancouver closed the Grouse Grind Wednesday, saying the mountain trail has become unsafe for hikers and needs repairs performed before it reopens.
Officials say the hot summer weather brought increased traffic to the trail in June - with an estimated 5,000 people hitting the trail on weekends and 2,500 on weekdays.
As a result, Metro Vancouver division manager Bob Cavill says some of the trails massive boulders have become unstable - and at risk of getting dislodged and rolling down the mountain.
"They're on the precipice of rolling, so if someone was to walk on them or step on them, presumably there could be trouble," Cavill said.
The Neighbouring British Columbia Mountaineering Club (BCMC) trail will also be closed for safety.
Cavill says there will be Metro workers at the foot of the trail to explain the situation to hikers. But while it wouldn't be impossible for eager hikers to sneak past - it could be at their own peril.
"It's simply unsafer right now," he said. "We are doing our absolute best to dissuade the public from going up there."
Metro Vancouver crews will be rock scaling on Friday, and hope to have the hiking hot spot re-opened on Saturday.

Thanks for the update! Plan to have a GG hike this weekend, will find somewhere else. :)
