Reached the cabin at 3:30. No-one around. After drinking the soup I'd carried all the way up and eating a sandwich I set about duties. Split wood, lay fire, load stove and lantern with gas and get snow to melt. At this point I was undecided as to set up my tent or not. The wind was up and I debated tent or cabin with wood burning stove, tent or cabin ....
Eventually I decided on the cabin even though I knew there was a pretty good chance a big group would still come through. Sure enough as twilight was fading I spied the silhouette of a snowshoer just reaching the ridge below the cabin. I went out and shone my headlamp just in case they couldn't see the cabin and got a 'thank you'. Mazegirl and her group had arrived.
Very nice group of very enthusiastic snowshoers. In fact it was the first time out on snowshoes for some of them. I guess one needs to build up an appetite for the humongous hotpot feast that had me wimpering 'no more food please, PLEASE'.
Shortly afterwards we played 5 or 6 rounds od 'murder' first in Mandarin and then in English! I even got to be the murderer!
