或者Red Heather? What is the current condition?

想找一些比较简单(easy to follow) 又稍有点难度 (no technical skills needed)的, 可以带孩子的。I have been all of them before, but with other people with no children. This time want to bring my kid. He has been to Brew Hut in the summer before. Any ideas? Need to get ready for some overnight hiking :)

Also looking for some families with children to explore outdoor activities.

How old is your son? I have been thinking and talking about hiking with kids for a long time, but never turned into action.
BTW, my son is 4 years old and is not very active.

(I actually meant Lynn Headwaters trail to Grouse--get up to Grouse Mountain from back.  I didn't correct myself as Lynn Valley is more kids-friendly. But if you know snow condition, logwood bridge conditions, and whether the creek is safe to pass about Lynn Headwaters, I'd like to get some updated information. Thanks!)

I am not sure Garibaldi lake is a good option for your son (it is 18km round trip), especially if he is not very active as you said.  Lynn valley is more reasonable, there are easy trails, but we can always make it a little harder to walk from Lynn Valley to Grouse mountain (not the top, but the sky ride base). We probably can arrange a car at Grouse, so we can then go to Lynn Valley to retrieve the other car? We can't go this weekend though (probably not next week either--our plan is go Brew hut). We may do Grouse Grind around 1:00pm on Saturday (due to other appointments), and we will go to Paddlefest (by MEC) on Sunday. If you are interested, you are welcome to join us--you need to preorder for Paddlefest.

My son is almost 11 now. He did Grouse Grind when he was 4/5, but it was a loooong climb for him. Back then, his dad lifted him a few places to help him past the "big rocks". He is still slow now :). To hike with a kid, you need patience, and do a lot of small breaks. You need to start with something easy but a little bit challenge every time. The good thing for kids is that they recover quickly.

Thank you for your reply. Emmm, it might not be a bright idea to pair them up since there is a huge gap between 11 and 4. I need to start with easy trails.  :sm51: You guys have fun!
Thank you again.

Hanes Valley(trail from Lynn Valley to Grouse mountain),因为现在正是融雪季节,溪流的水量大增,过溪和溯溪都有一定的危险性....

另外可以带大孩子走的还有Mt. Gardner@ Bowen Island, Brothers Creek Trail@ west vancouver, DIEZ VISTAS Trail@ Bunzen Lake, Belcarra Hiking @ port moody, BCMC @ Grouse Mountain 等等

I think the gap is little big too, but you never know. As Lulu suggested Lynn Loop trail is an easy one.

Thanks Lulu for so much information. We probably did BCMC @ Grouse last year (or the year before?). "Probably" because the signs are so confusing, we might be able to arrive the same spot as Grouse Grind, but in the end we chose to go out and arrived around the middle of the "Cut". I am hoping to find someone who knows the exact route to go with, BCMC is much quieter.

I always want to find some kids to go along, not only the kids will find it fun, but also as a big group it is safer. So yelling :D, any one with kids wants to hiking together?

I may do an overnight camp at Taylor Meadow instead later into summer, so we could explore Panorama ridge/Black Tusk. Question, at Taylor Meadows campsite, is there day-time used shelter or food cache to store food? Creek to get water? Thanks a lot!

PS: I also wanted to go the Silverdaisy Mountain trail, but thought it is a little too challenge for a kid, and the come back time is a bit late. Will try next time. :)

Try Burnaby mountain then MT Seymour

I start hiking with my family since my daugter was in grade 3.

I believe that you can try Burnaby mountain then MT Seymour hiking trail first. Those are good for family hiking.

You can try BCMC, GG, and Mt brunswick but you don't have to reach the summit.

Safty first!

Hi, Lion mountain is quite challenge for a kid, I think, as it is quite exposed--I got this impression as I remembered there was a hiker fell some 50 feet last year. Good for you!

We can't go with you this weekend. We will, instead, go to Brew Hut/Lake area ( Brew Hut info). The hut is full now, but we will tent (borrowed tent).

Next weekend (I can make it a 4-day long weekend! Hooray!), we will probably go to US for a car camping at Mount Baker, explore some easy trails around. We don't have any fixed plan yet, except that we will pick up a tent first. :)

If you have some ideas for the following weekends, please do let me know, I will do the same.

Thanks! :)

Thanks beijihu for the suggestions. I am considering Mount Seymour too, except that it could be very buggy. Any one into that, maybe July 12/13? I know there is still snow now, but in 2 weeks, it should be OK.

yes.  it took us 12 hours for the round trip in one day so I thought we prepared for the challenge.
I'm free the long weekend, maybe we can come up for some plan :D  :D
