Route 66 is 1st highway in America, from north of Pasadena, Foothill Highway, to Oklahoma, Later on, extended to Chicago. It was built for residential areas, not for NP. The only NP is the central America is Smoky Mountains (not close to Route 66). Which even does not have an entry gate, but hills in vast area. U do not have to be on your feet, but in your car. Montana or South Dakota has better views. Southern area has Big Bend, so so, not as much as Death Valley. Florida has Everglade and New England area has a few NP and NM. It really does not have much to see between coasts. |
