Compulsory Inspection
All Elk in Regions 2, 8 and 7 (M.U.s 7-02 to 7-15, 7-17, 7-
24 to 7-26) and all Grizzly Bear, Mountain Sheep,
Mountain Goat and Caribou harvested must undergo a
Compulsory Inspection. Compulsory Inspections for
hunter harvest are no longer provided by the Ministry of
Water, Land and Air Protection. Inspections are now
provided through independent, qualified inspectors at 27
locations throughout the province. For information on the
location nearest you, please contact the Ministry of Water,
Land and Air Protection regional office in your region.
Portions of animals that are required for inspection are
listed in the 2005/2006 Hunting and Trapping Regulations
Synopsis, as well as other information which may apply to
Limited Entry Hunts, including: No Shooting and No
Hunting Areas, Special Closed Areas,Wildlife Sanctuaries,
and drawings and detailed descriptions of antler and horn
restrictions.
Anyone who kills a bull Elk or a bull Moose under the
authority of a LEH authorization must, while returning
from the hunt, keep the antlers of the animal available for
inspection by an officer. |
