At 6:30am in a mix of early morning clear skys and cloud we departed for Horshoe Bay for the Sunshine Coast to ski a new destination at Dakota Ridge. The Group consisted of Alex, 小C, Jinsi, Gloria, Robin, Weiqi, Everie, and myself. The drive is a short trip to almost Sechelt and then a run up a 13km logging road. The Road was in great condition, but is clearly best suited for 4X4 with winter tread should snow conditions change quickly. It could get very icey just like the Tetrahedron road.
We arrived in Sunshine, beautiful ski conditions and very few people to begin with and as the day progressed, visitors increased and our weather turned to snow showers. The ski area managers were very greatful to Camony and Alex for organzing us as new visitors and asked us to spread the word :) Trail Tickets are $10.00
This is a wonderful ski area with great potential as they develop more trails. Trails are very limited right now, but still enjoyable. With completely clear skies, I can imagine the views of Georgia Strait are beautiful. We were occasionally treated to some views of the coast between the clouds. :D
Lunchtime was a treat with way too much food but we burned it off with more skiing in the afternoon. We came back around 4:30 to catch the ferry home and FB.
Thank you Alex and Camony for organizing this perfect ski day. |
