For whatever reason, a few years ago Brian Grover's book "BC Car-Free" became a
free on-line resource
http://www.car-free.ca/.
Personally I always found this book to be the best "all around" adventure
resource for Southwest BC.

It covers not only hiking (easy to tough, including multi-day trips like the WCT
and Stein), but also includes paddling and is one of the best cycle tour
resources I'd found for the Gulf and San Juan Islands.
Brian also focuses the whole thing on how to do it without a car, and has an eye
for travel logistics that is not as common as it should be in other resources.

Did I mention it is free?
