Mountain Hardwear has introduced a new Waterproof and Windproof material called DryQ to compete with GoreTex and eVent.


Traditional waterproof-breathable systems work by moving moisture out through the shell fabric. the trouble is, you have to get hot before they start working. That means waiting until you're clammy and damp before the breathability kicks in.

Dry.Q Elite doesn't make you wait. It's air-permeable membrane allows air - not just moisture - to pass outward through the fabric. That always-on air flow won't wait for you to get hot first. With Dry.Q, breathability and comfort starts the moment you put on your jacket.

We’re now offering the eVent fabrics technology to customers to build new laminate packages and brand them as their own. In November, 2010, Mountain Hardwear announced the launch of Dry.Q, a new family of waterproof-breathable technologies.  While similar to eVent, Dry.Q is Mountain Hardwear's own proprietary technology providing the wearer with 100% waterproofness and unmatched breathability through air-permeability.



Dry.Q Elite, the pinnacle technology in the family, prevents the wearer from getting soaked from the inside by their own perspiration at all levels of exertion. Featured in the brand’s Alpine, Snowear and Mountain categories, Dry.Q Elite brings durability to waterproofness and breathability and provides always-on performance via air-permeability. Traditional waterproof-breathable systems work by moving internally-generated moisture out through the shell fabric, but the wearer must first overheat and feel wet on the inside before the membrane begins to work. Dry.Q Elite breathes instantly, allowing air – and moisture - to pass outward through the fabric. Breathability and comfort starts the moment the wearer puts on the garment.
