INTRO: There's a speaker's series on Nootka Island / Friendly Cove scheduled at the Vancouver Public Library on Monday, February 13th at 7:30pm. This should be of great interest for anyone with an interest in learning some of the island history prior to hiking the Nootka Trail or anyone with an interest in First Nations/Canadian history.

DESCRIPTION:

Parks Canada Speakers series
Yuquot - Where the Wind Blows in All Directions
A program for Adults
Join Margarita James as she shares her great knowledge of Yuquot, ancestral home of the Mowachaht-Muchalaht First Nation. Rich in culture and history, Yuquot has always been the centre of their social, political and economic world. Later it became an important site of early contact between First Peoples, and explorers from Britain and Spain. Today it is a National Historic Site. Margarita James is the Director of Cultural and Heritage Resources for the Mowachaht-Muchalaht First Nation.
