MEC Snowfest Vancouver is an urban celebration of snow sports and the winter environment in Beautiful British Columbia.

Snowfest is a free event for all ages offering informative clinics and workshops, the latest gear from the best brands, a kid’s area, and is home to our legendary Snow Swap!
Snow Swap

Snow Swap at Snowfest is THE choice for those who are looking to score some sweet deals on previously-loved gear including skis, ski boots, snowshoes, and much, much more. Got a closet overflowing with gear? Snow Swap is also the perfect venue for those looking to find a new home for their gear. Consignees have the option of renting a full or a 1/2 table to sell their wares and are welcome to partner with friends if they do not have enough gear to necessitate a table. MEC staff will be available to assist with pricing and getting set up. Snow Swap will be taking place on the roof of the Vancouver store during Snowfest. Members are advised to line up early (read: really, really early!) to secure a place in line.

Members looking to rent a table for Snow Swap must pay for the table in person at the Member Services Desk in our Vancouver store. There are no prior reservations permitted and bookings are done on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Here are the details:

Full table: $20

Half Table: $10

No refunds 72 hours prior to event.

We've got you covered with awesome free clinics from some of the most knowledgeable experts in the industry including the Canadian Avalanche Centre, The Alpine Club of Canada and even some of our great MEC staff. If you're looking to learn more about enjoying winter pursuits safely, MEC Snowfest is you resource for accurate, reliable information.

Ski Boot Fitting with Tom James of Intuition (all day)

This clinic does not require pre-registration. Tom James, one of Vancouver's foremost experts in ski boot fitting will be present all day to answer questions and troubleshoot with members. Members are encouraged to bring their boots with them and discuss any issues they are having with boot fit. Members will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis during this free clinic.

Winter Cycling with Rene Girard (all day)

This clinic does not require pre-registration. Rene Girard of MEC's Vancouver store will be available all day to discuss options for those who wish to continue cycling through the rainy winter months. Rene will discuss appropriate attire for winter cycling, winter-specific bike maintenance, and cycling safety among other topics. If you put your bike away when the rain falls, this is a great chance to pick up some tips and tricks to keep your fitness up and your gas bill down when mother nature doesn't play ball. Rene Girard is a veteran of cycle commuting all over Canada. Regardless of weather, he is always on his bike inspiring us to make the green choice for urban travel.

Looking to pick up a new touring setup? Maybe you're getting outfitted for your first winter camping trip? Come to Snowfest and speak with the brands directly! Representatives from brands like G3, Patagonia, MSR, K2, Atlas, Scarpa, and many more will be on-hand to answer any questions and show you what's new for 2013. There's no better place to get the lowdown on the latest winter gear than MEC Snowfest Vancouver.
Door Prizes

What would an event be without cool giveaways for our members?? We are excited to be partnered with so many great brands and organizations who have stepped up to offer some goodies at Snowfest. We will have giveaways all day from many of our exhibitors and we are very proud to announce that this year we will be handing out a fantastic grand prize... The good folks at Powder Mountain Heli and Cat-skiing  www.powdermountaincatskiing.com in Whistler have gone big! They are offering one of two grand prizes:

A free 5-lap day of Heliskiing for one -or-

A free full day of Catskiing for two

Details on how to win this and and other great prizes will be revealed at Snowfest.
Food and Bevies

Getting hooked up with sweet deals all day can make anyone hungry and if you camped out over night for a place in line, we know you're gonna need some coffee. Thankfully, we've got some support from some great local establishments to keep your spirits up.

Re-up BBQ is gonna bring one of their awesome food carts to Snowfest and set up shop on the roof. One word: bacon.

Kafka Coffee (inspired by literary legend Franz Kafka) is gonna take shelter inside our massive tent on the roof and brew up cup after cup of hot goodness.

These operations are CASH ONLY so please come prepared if you want to savour their offerings.
Kid's Area

Parents attending Snowfest this year are welcome to drop their children off in our kids area. MEC staff will be on hand to provide entertainment and activities in a safe environment while you visit Snowfest. No booking necessary, just show up, drop off the little ones and have a good time.
