The Burton Hut accommodates about 10 people comfortably and up to 15 with a bit of squeezing. There is a lot of sleeping space (attic (6), sleeping platform (5), sleeping bench (2), on the floor underneath the sleeping platform (5) ) but space for cooking, socializing and gear storage / drying is more limited.

Sure, no problem!

I'll email the groups that went to Burton Hut this weekend or will go there in the next one or two week for the detailed/updated info:

the most current trip report:

The Burton Hut sleeps 10 comfortably and 15 is cozy. Make sure Garibaldi lake is frozen before you try to cross it. Typically it is frozen by the start of February.

There was a good track to follow but we couldn't really open it up on the descent. We had to double pole the lake and took the GL trail down. With good skating on the lake and ripping down the barrier under 5 should be doable. Getting Nick to lay off the ice cream though...

A couple notes on conditions: Ring creek crossing was easy if you do it low. Don't follow tracks up the moraine on the west side of ring creek - it's not worth it. Just cross low. We carried a short rope but it was completely unnecessary - never took it out. The usual crevasse area was relatively mellow, just skied between some seracs. Garibaldi Lake trail is skiable to the bottom with 2 or 3 open spots to step across.

They started at 9:00 and did not arrive Garibaldi Lake until 3:30 pm. That is when they decided to stay at the lake shelter for the first night. I wonder whether that will be our backup plan, too.

We need to be prepared!

Fantastic pictures, partcularly those from the skiers... I am so very excited to go!
The guys in the first group look strong.  As they did not make to the hut the first day, we had better to prepare ourselves well. With a large group like ours, it will most likely take longer.
Look forward to this exciting trip.

Total distance and elevation gain are about 15.7km and 1100m. we will start early (meeting time is 6:00am) and take a longer break @ ranger station if needed. I am quite confident that we can make it to Burton Hut . Our backup plan is nice except sleeping in the ranger station hut/lake shelter is very cold.

Expect to put on headlamp when crossing the lake in the late afternoon. It is a long day but doable as per my experience. Yes and you can use the ranger station as your back up plan. No big deal. The lake is always there for you to cross during the Winter.

Start early and on time!

Agree with Lulu, we need to start early and on time.  Based on its trail report, there was a delay to start for the first group.  We should avoid any unneccessary delays. Let's do it.
