Re: Man who fell on Hollyburn Mountain while snowshoeing rescued
棉花糖
..没感觉很险要的样子, 难道也是off trail 了吗?
"..the group of 4 snowshoers had become disoriented due to poor visibility and a GPS which failed. This innocent error in navigation had resulted in them ending up on a steep traverse above Tony Baker Gully. The subject slipped, and is thought to have gone over three 30+ foot vertical cliffs before he ended up in Tony Baker..."

Lessons to learn:
4) "Easy" marked tourist trails often produce wrong impression of safety
3) Always keep your GPS turned on AND know how to use it
2) Always stay together (the group spotted the man drop and called for help)
1) Every accident has a safe turning point: it takes skills to detect it and determination to turn back no matter how close to the destination: the group should have questioned if it was a good idea to enter technical terrain instead of turning back. Or better yet, stay home in such poor weather: weather forecast for that day was 80% chance of precipitation, and that's why it was not a helicopter pick up.
