BMO half marathon today

昨天我们去PANORAMA时,KITTY还直心疼LULU说这么热的天要跑半马真的很辛苦。恭喜成功还有了进步,下周可以出来HIKING了。

谢谢大家鼓励,我说一下我自己的感受:

这次半马比第一次轻松很多时间上也快了约三分钟,老毛的““戰略上藐視敵人,戰術上重視敵人”还是有一定道理的。经历也很重要----我第二次跑明显比第一次跑熟悉淡定很多-----因此运用了一点自己的“战术”---

***补水,需要补水就补水,安排好每次也就多花几秒时间,喝两口剩下的就倒身上降温了;
***匀速, 下坡时稍稍加速
***口袋里放了好几粒能量软糖,过十公里以后就间或拿出来嚼了(个人感觉这个比固体和液体的能量棒好不少,主要是不太腻食用后不会太口渴)。
***待回忆补充...

这次没有特别准备,但平时一直有锻炼,中午三次run,平时的间或的BCMC,还有周末的long runn or hiking(good base很重要)。而且我这次给自己定的目标是不间断地跑,不要在意时间成绩,结果很满意,比自己想象得要好。

I was running the Full Marathon while you guys was enjoying the sunshine at the finish line. At the very beginning, I actually have thought about "Lulu must have gone to her halfway already!".

My time is 4:13:05.  

I wished it could started one hour earlier. While I was approaching the halfway, it was really hot. I took a lot of water. The last 12KM was killing me. I walked a lot...  
Anyway, all tough training paid back. No pain no gain. I am so glad I made it.

Summer is here. Let's meet at hiking trails.

我也很满意 8) ,想象过无数次你的成绩,没想到这么好,还是在这么炎热的天气。

popcorn真棒!! 知道跑全马的付出很大,我自己估计现在还没有勇气去尝试。 昨天我们跑时也想着你来的---我们开跑时就已经迟了半小时,你跑时正是太阳暴晒的时候,真是不容易!!很佩服!!

Congratulations, Lulu, Angel and Popcorn, well done!
I admire Popcorn very much, A Full Marathon with a great result, you are awesome! I can only image how hard it is and cannot even dream about running it.  

I agree with Lulu that HM needs some base level training and some preparation, but everyone can do it.

I really enjoyed it and there was no pain and not even very tired afterwards, no recovery time was required. I ran a couple of HM during training and had to drag myself with much reduced speed during the last quarter, but yesterday I kept a stable pace for the whole time and was able to pass when I wanted.  I attributed that to a few rough points and I provide them here for your information:

- energy and hydration: during my training i did not eat anything and did not have any water breaks, I was exhausted after 15K. Yesterday I had a cliff block before and two energy gels and three water breaks during the race, it was a big help;
- lots of motivation: there was so many people running and so many spectators cheering, it was much more fun than running by yourself.  You could also identify a fellow runner to run along or to pass so that you were not falling behind.
- GPS watch: i had a gps watch with me so I could moinitor my speed.  My target was under 2h, I could pace myself accordingly and remain confident that I can do it.

Anyhow it was a great run-good weather, excellent course and great company, what more could you ask for?  I enjoyed it.  

Thank you so much for my running mates for the encourge and training together during the Spring. Let us hope that next year we will have more pople join the race.

Lulu明显瘦了很多, 跑步还是很有成效的
Explorer体力也保持的很好

今天中午跑了不到5K 天气炎热 非常累

现在基本没有hiking了 只能利用上下班骑车或者中午在公司跑跑步来锻炼一下

今年的目标是参加一次5 peaks的trail run, 大家共勉一下!

Popcorn is looking good, full marathon is definitely worth it - I admire you :) Great job Popcorn.

Just another wild thing I did again.  I have not been running for more than few weeks,  just on Friday evening, before the 1/2 marathon were I realized an opportunity to run for Tian Nan Nan on Sunday.  It was too late to practice running.  I was a bit worried whether the leg muscle meet up with the 1/2 marathon expectation. Lulu and Explore were definitely made a different to me meeting the finish line. I am thankful for all the encouragements from team mates.   I stopped 4 times for friends came by cheering me and a time for the washroom leaving me far behind Lulu. Drinking too much water because it was convenience and a temptation to stop, ha ha... So, my advice is not to drink too much water while running, I like running the Burnaby lake where there is only one water fountain, you have one chance to drink water every time running round the lake.  Two driven energies, one was Popcorn was running for 40 km in the hot day, I could do better than gave up 20 km finish line.  Two, I was running for Tian Nan Nan, accomplishing this was a necessary task.  Persisting to the finish line is what dragged me on...enjoyed the process of 1/2 marathon including the struggles:)  my next destination was to catch up with Lulu, finally was happy that I catch up with her, and Jim was still way ahead of me.

In a hot day like this, not sure if I were able to make it the finish line.  I was pretty thankful for strangers cheering from the road side for runners - it was definitely energizing. At the end of the day, I was thinking of volunteering to cheer runners in the future running events for the sake of encouraging the others :).

Not sure if running long distance without preparing was wild or not, definitely I don't recommend it to anyone.

Thanks for running together, running the 1/2 marathon 2013 is definitely quite an experience, and
