DESCRIPTION: A group of Wanderungers are looking for a few others to join
us on a 3-day trip into the North Stein. One of the additional
participants will need to be able to provide a 4wd since we will be
approaching via the Texas Creek Rd - it's not hardcore 4wd territory but
traction is important and will prevent most 2wds from accessing the
trailhead. The drive from Vancouver to trailhead will probably be about
5.5 hours(!)
We will be base camping at Brimful Lake. This is where the Stein Valley
Festivals were held in the mid-80s. As of 4 years ago, there was an
outhouse and a food cache here. There's also an established trail but
it'll require some poking around to find it because I can't remember where
it starts. Once at the lake, we'll spend the middle day doing some
exploring off-trail. There's some nice meadowy valleys to the SE that I'd
like to return to. Other options include Cattle Valley and Rainbow Ridge.
