Was in the area yesterday. Heard a sound of 2 avalanches, one short and one big, both most likely coming from the Goat south face, below tree level. This confirms we are in natural spring seasonal transition period, sun is out which makes snow move. Going into alpine this weekend will make me nervous. Afternoon slopes, any aspect, can be very unstable. The exposed traverse just below the emergency shelter on Golden Ears comes to mind. My estimate of safe alpine would be June-15 and after, when the snow that moves has moved. Be safe, don't become statistics. 8) |

Clean south face of Crown. Ripe for a slab avalanche, similar to the one seen below Camel.
