|Wanderung| Newsletter推荐的这个周末的hiking,你自己召集一个或找朋友结伴同行?
Remember the Squamish Mountain Festival and Pemberton Music Festival are on this
weekend. Consider hiking elsewhere, such as Manning Park, Chilliwack or the
Coquihalla. Looking for ideas? How about the following:
- Heather Trail (Manning Park): above the treeline and wildflower heaven.
- Frosty Mountain (Manning Park): probably the best hike in the park, superb
views.
- Zoa Peak (Coquihalla): Good, middle-of-the-road hike with a nice mix of
flowers and views.
- Needle Peak/Flatiron (Coquihalla): the scramble up to Needle Peak takes a
little bit of nerve, so head to the Flatiron instead for views that are almost
as good.
- Elk Mountain (Chilliwack): perhaps the nearest wildflower meadows to
Vancouver, and some of the best.
- Lindeman/Greendrop Lake: very popular hike, and deservedly so. Try the Flora
Lake loop if you want something a bit tougher.
Manning Park has some great overnight destinations too: the Heather Trail can be
anywhere from an overnighter to 3 or 4 days, Poland Lake is a good trip to break
in your backpacking skills, Skyline is a steep climb (and Mowich Camp isn't the
greatest) but it's a superb ridge walk.
Of course, the North Shore is another option, and much closer to town.
Hollyburn, Mt Strachan and Eagle Bluffs (Black Mountain) haven't seen many
callouts this year, plus there's the Crazy Raven at the downhill ski area for
post-hike refreshments (open until 7pm now).
