I love it:

EIGHT SAFETY HABITS OF A PERFECT HIKER

***************************************************

1. His emergency contact knows where and with whom he went and his latest return time. If she doesn't hear from him by then, or when she receives activated distress signal, she calls police immediately AND monitors the progress of rescue operation, in particular, makes sure that Search and Rescue was activated.

2. He doesn't separate from the group. He is well within normal voice level distance at ALL times. This applies to all terrain types, from class 5 to trail approach. He knows that splitting from the group on class 5 terrain, especially along the fall line, or/and at night time or/and in bad weather is a severe safety violation.

3. He carries ALL mandatory safety gear. Saving on weight at the expense of emergency rappel material, personal medical kit, helmet, etc. IS safety violation and is not tolerated. For trips that may require class 5 moves he carries (and knows how to use) at least: anchor material enough for two rappel stations, climbing harness, belay device, 2 5-mm prusik slings, locker, helmet, head lamp with spare batteries, whistle.

4. He is prepared to survive at least one night in the open, possibly taking care of the injured partner(s). He carries warm dry clothes, emergency bivy (or space blanket, or large garden plastic bag), food and liquid.

5. He is fit, yet he never burns the team by moving too fast. If he leads, he keeps watching those who follow and maintains appropriate speed; it is 80-90% of the comfort level of the slowest person. If he follows, he doesn't tailgate. He is kind and modest, he quietly offers carry extra shared gear, drinking water,  be a sweeper, a group photographer, etc.

6. He doesn't lag behind the sweeper if one is assigned, nor jumps into the front if he is not the lead; he always keeps between the leader and the sweeper.

7. He listens and watches his partner(s). Any safety concerns, even slightest hints (e.g. voice tone, body language, or even just a look) are taken seriously.

8. He promptly raises his own safety concerns to the trip leader, his partner, and the group.

I love it..

Right. Those are not picked from a Boy Scout handbook. Any single item is based upon a real-life, often grim, story.  Some of those stories, sadly, tragic.
