今年雪况不好，车应该能开上去不少，相对走爬要少些 (need high high clearance 4X4, we will park the parking area just below the snowmobile cabin ) :wink:

I was surprised to find the road in good condition and made it to the parking area just below the snowmobile cabin in my Outback. If you want, you can drive up the last corner to the cabin but that only gets you about 100 meters further. You can not drive past the snowmobile cabin so you start the hike with a short walk on the road.

We were up there a few times this past season, using the Upper trailhead for access. That last stretch of road to the TH is definitely not very 2wd suitable. We accessed it in a Jeep Cherokee, proceeding slowly in high range in low gear, and had no issues other than one scrape of the trailer hitch.

A high clearance 2wd pickup might work but it will struggle across those nasty cross ditches as it tries to push itself out of the deep and irregular openings in the road surface.

Metal Dome (2010 m) is a gentle ski summit, 2 km east of Brandywine Mountain, above Brandywine Creek

Route: Brandywine Creek road, Brandywine Meadows trail to upper road, traverse up to east ridge and summit, return by the same route
Highest Point: 2010 m (summit)
Elevation Gain: >1200 m
Total Distance(round trip): >15 km
Trail/Marking: markers in the woods from trailhead almost to upper road

Route Description from Peak Bagger :

I've done Metal Dome in winter/spring conditions on both snowshoes and skis. Each time, we basically went to Brandywine Meadows, then turned right and gained the ridgeline, then followed the ridgeline to the summit. No technocal difficulty. There was no trail or markers, but the route was pretty obvious.....

對講機頻道：6-6（6主频道，6子频道）

必备装备：
1> lunch & snacks
2> 防水Hiking boots +Gaiter+microspikes+
SnowShoes
3> 2升水 (带热水，不要用水袋，会结冰better to bring some hot water in the themos)
4> 一對手套+hat
5> quick dry base layer 和一套御寒保暖衣服(e.g. fleece/down jacket)
6> 防雨防风外套
7> 头灯/手电筒
8> Day hiking背包及rain cover
9> 防晒霜
10>墨鏡
11> Gaiters,防雪防湿鞋湿裤又能防脏
12> 哨子
13> 登山杖
14> 雨具

一些注意事项：

需要CARPOOL的朋友准备两双鞋（一双是登山鞋），在开始Hiking前和结束后，换上干净的鞋，这样省去车主打扫车内卫生，谢谢！还可以再准备一双备用的袜子。爬完山，能让脚舒服一下也是种享受 .

手套很有用, 保暖防寒, 要防水／快干的, 建议备两双.
