Two of us hiked around Crater Lake, the deepest lake in United States (and possibly the bluest). Fantastic weather, super place. 8)

Trip's statistics:
Started: April 15 @ 15:30
Completed: April 17 @ 13:00
Total time: 45h30m ( 2 nights, 3 days )
Rim Drive, complete distance: 51 km
Rim Drive, elevation gain: 1,260 m
Gear: snowshoes, microspikes

According to park ranger who issued us back-country permit, we would be the only two people hiking on crater rim. Meaning we had entire U.S. National Park with zero people around, no kidding! Wow, that's 50 km of trail! 8)

We started the trip on a sunny and calm afternoon from Rim Village and hiked the Rim Drive clockwise.

We started from Rim Village. The first 18 km were plowed, but the entire Rim Drive was still closed to cars, so walking it felt like Stanley Park with no people around (isn't it great!?). Also, the backcountry permit allowed to camp anywhere we wanted.

We followed previous snowshoe tracks all the way around the lake, but without them a loaded GPS would be a must thing to have.

第一次来到CraterLake是在繁忙的初秋，营地紧张，人来人往，络绎不绝。当时走马观花，读了一点景点旁的介绍，记得对它的深度特别吃惊，590多米有多深，真是没有概念，以我有限的想象力是绝对没法想象的，反正很深很深就对了。那一次一路只是开车，遇到景点就停下来感慨一番，而巫师岛外的Phantom Ship，我则一点印象也没有。（公园发的介绍我还不知道要看）

这一次就不一样了，在这一年多的时间里我已经学会了雪地露营，也习惯了backpacking，完全做好了慢慢欣赏它的准备。博士查看了天气，正好我也有时间，一拍即合，两小时准备后就在开往Oregon的路上了。一路顺利，下午一点来到Visitor Centre，办理backcountry许可证。好消息总是不断，ranger告诉我们连国家公园费都不用付，一切都是免费，而且整个Rim Drive都是关闭的，也就是说绕湖一圈50公里你都不会碰到车辆。博士问有多少人在backcountry，回答更是令你吃惊：我们是唯一的group！在这个年均游客人次在50万的国家公园，居然在这样好的天气里只有我们两人绕湖而行，我们的RP太好了吧？我们兴奋地开始整理背包，开车到Rim Village，把背包放下，我再开回Visitor Centre停车，然后请去观湖的人给我一个ride，这样我们就避免了开始无“湖景”的4.5公里的背包行。（聪明的博士想出这么绝妙的主意，赞！）

独一无二的环湖行就这样轻松地开始了。

Crater Lake NP has 16 official trails, some are short some are up to 18 km long.
