One slip is all you get, an article in the Guardian about the risks of winter
snowshoeing and hiking:

The conditions described should be familiar to all of us who have ventured into
the North Shore mountains during the winter - what was soft and fresh snow a
week ago has since been rained on and then frozen into a sheet of ice. It is
these types of conditions (and the increase in the numbers of snowshoers) that
prompted Coquitlam SAR member Michael Coyle to pen his articles about staying
safe in the North Shore mountains in winter:

It's well worth re-reading the first of his articles as it includes maps of each
of the most popular North Shore snowshoeing areas showing where the terrain gets
