North Shore Rescue has posted their preliminary 2017 stats: 124 callouts to
rescue 186 people. That's a call every 3 days!

As North Shore Rescue puts it, no one sets off on a trip expecting to need
a rescue, so it always pays to be prepared for the kinds of thing that
*could* happen on a trip, no matter how many times you've hiked a
particular trail without incident. So be prepared, plan your trip
(including checking sunset times and weather), tell someone where you're
going, and always take the Ten Essentials (or more if necessary!). |
