前段时间给和我们在hidden lakes lookout同宿共饮的Carlos发信问讯Sourdough Mtn,但他不了解雪季的情况,我们还要多收集些信息才可能成行,这是他的回信:
"Ospina, Carlos" to me
Hola Gloria, amiga!
I am well, thanks. How are you..? and all the group..? As usual it looks like a very fun trip you guys took to the Olympic Peninsula, thanks for sharing the wonderful photos. Wished I had been able to go but have been very busy, both at work (end of fiscal year this month so lots of reports are due) as well as outside of it.
I started a climbing class on March 13th with an organization here in Seattle, the WA. Alpine Club. We have classroom instruction every Tuesday night, and practice
outdoors every weekend, plus I have to do some reading for it during the week, so basically my only free day, sometimes, is on Sunday. But I am really enjoying the class and am learning a lot, and am SO looking forward to climbs, and hikes and scrambles, of course. And the weather is now getting nicer for all of it, fun!!
"Sourdough Mtn" is an awesome place, but I have only been there in late summer/early fall time, with practically no snow on the ground. It's a bit strenuous and a steep hike (I think elevation gain in 5 miles is ~ 5K ft) but nothing technical, so if you snowshoe into it this time of year you may still need an ice axe, just in case, because there may be slick patches of snow. I know am not being much help giving you advice on this one, sorry, Gloria. But you guys are amazing hikers in great shape with lots of experience, and such outdoor enthusiasts that i think you'll have no trouble making it up there anytime. Make sure to check on the road though, so that it is passable and open to the public.
Okay, back to work here ;-). Hope all is well, and thanks again for sharing your trips with me, and for keeping in touch. Let's stay that way!
Best regards to you and all. Salud! Hasta luego...
Carlos
P.S~~ It's so sunny and beautiful today here, I hope Vancouver is that way right now too.
