Hi Gloria,

How are you?  How was your trip last weekend?  How did the weather turn out.  We were thinking about you and wondering how you were getting on.

    So are you ready for your Stein trip?  I was up there exactly two years ago last weekend.  Two things stick out in my memory.  There was a ton of bear poop on the hike up to Lizzie Lake because of the berries, and the stream across the trail at the beginning of the hike was a raging torrent.
     
    When you went last fall, it was a lot calmer.  Please be prepared if it is running quite high.  Remember that there is an overland bypass around the river.  When you get to the river, you walk up to the left up a spur road for about 3-5 minutes.  Look for a cairn on your right.  There will be a rough trail that heads into the bush for about 10 minutes.  It is a very rough trail.  You will need your poles to ensure that you don't slip.  Eventually it will spit you out on the other side of the creek.  It is much safer than trying to cross the creek if the water level is high.

FYI:

Here is the view from Cherry Pit Pass.

Tundra Lake is right at the ridge.  It takes an hour to get down
from Cherry Pit Pass to Clatha Lake.  The distance is decieving.  It
shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes to get to the Tundra Lake viewpoint
once you leave Clatha Lake.

FYI: Current Lillooet Lake Road Condition from Bivouac Bulletins:



2007.07.29 Greg Jones Open.Police incident at 23km: Water levels are low. Drove by yet another horrific scene at 23km on the lake road. S&R probing desperately in Lillooet lake for a private vehicle that went off the road. This could possibly be the 4th fatality I have seen on this road (Lillooet Lake Road) this year. This is a logging road that supports way too much traffic right now. Use extreme caution even on weekends. Kiewit crews work 21 and 7's.....no such thing as weekend for them. Not a road to speed on to say the least. *1


2007.07.23 Steve Sproule and closed again....: Squamish Forest District site updated today: "** CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING BETWEEN APPROX 12KM ON THE NORTH AND 28.5KM (TENAS BRIDGE JUNCTION) ON THE SOUTH **" *1

2007.07.18 Steve Sproule Apparently open again: Info pilfered from Squamish Forest District website dated for July 18th says the following: "Open; drive with extreme caution; soft shoulders between 16km and 25km due to rising water levels" *1

我昨天研究了整个区域的路线，我的印象是In Shuck Ch Forest service road的路况不好，从In Shuck Ch Forest service road到上Lizzie Lake的部分因为水毁不通车，提醒各位仔细研究一下路线和时间安排。

谢谢关心，我今天早上给Local Forest District Office打过电话问过当前的路况，In Shuck Ch Forest service road(即Lillooet Lake Road)目前一直开放，一般的两驱车开没有问题，就是要开慢些小心开车

我们去年是在Lizzie Cabin附近扎的营，今年我希望第一天能走到Arrowhead Lake或Heart Lake扎营(营地多且更平整些)，从Lizzie Cabin到Arrowhead Lake要一小时时间，从Arrowhead Lake到Heart Lake要半小时时间，如果到Heart Lake扎营我们要多走一个半小时以上，但营地会舒服漂亮很多。

返程的那天(周一)，我希望能够早起把Long Lake也走了，Long Lake离Lizzie Cabin约一小时的路程，兰色的Long Lake非常地漂亮,Scrambles一书重点推荐.

我们早晚煮食，中午吃干粮(3 breakfast, 3 lunch, 3 dinner + snacks), 周五的晚餐在途中解决（比如Pemberton的麦当劳）三个早晨都要早起六点左右出发
