INTRO and DESCRIPTION:
Join me Sunday for a near urban adventure, Mount Burwell. Departing from Lynn Headwaters Park (map) we will proceed along the trail almost to Norvan Falls, where just before the falls we will proceed up and East. First we will summit Coliseum Mountain which is a sub peak of Burwell and then proceed on to summit Mount Burwell.
Do not be fooled by the location and accessibility of the hike, it is not a walk in the park and it will not be easy. There will be snow and an ice axe will be required and crampons may be helpful. You will need to refill your water en route, so be prepared to drink melt water and treat or filter your water if you choose.
The weather forecast for Sunday currently is for showers. Low 17. High 20. Check the current forecast before you come. Should the weather conditions deteriorate further, I reserve the right to cancel the hike the evening before at 8:00 PM.
Please also note that the park back country is officially closed at this point. You will be entering the back country at your own risk. Come prepared and refer to the park website for further information.
