Dec 7, Mt Strachan in Cypress.

I will leave the Trail report to the masters but we came across a search and rescue mission in the Hollyburn area.

Several park rangers informed us they're looking for an Asian male hiker who went missing on Saturday afternoon and the chopper was buzzing overhead.

The good news is they have located him as per CBC news:

A hiker who went missing at Cypress Bowl Saturday evening was found Sunday afternoon.

Larry Leung, 57, was rescued by helicopter after he got lost on Hollyburn Mountain and couldn't find his way out.

Search and rescue crews started searching for the Delta resident after he called 911 Saturday evening.

"[I] just made a couple mistakes — didn't stick with my plans. Originally, I wasn't going to be here for a long time but I didn't let anybody know that I was going up there," Leung said.

Although he spent the night on the mountain, Leung said he was lucky it wasn't too cold — and he learned a valuable lesson: "Stick with your original plan and let other people know."

Rescue crews started searching for the Leung after he called 911 Saturday evening. He said he was grateful to North Shore Rescue for bringing him down off the mountain.

He said he made a couple of mistakes. But he did not elaborate further.

I guess no compass and no map maybe a major issue. Luckily he got a cell phone with him.

His name released on the press is "Lawrence Leong" and is a lawyer. You think he is Lee L?

Sounds like it since his news is all over CT now! I have the impression he is a very seasoned backcountry skier and etc. Nevertheless, glad he is safe and back to his family the end of the day! :)

什麼標題好呢?
上午上山時是霧氣很大, 看來什麼也看不到.
中午時間還下了15分鐘的雪雨.
到了山頂, 竟然可看到燦爛的陽光.
從Park Ranger口中得知有hiker失蹤
回來知道他沒事, 也感開心.

原意是走往Mt Strachan山頭,再走gully下山接駁St Mark trail回頭走, 但Ranger說, gully有冰,很滑. 沒冰爪和冰斧便不要下去.
再看看下去往Mt Strachan的雪面也很堅固, 所以決定回頭走.

在山頂還有一層薄薄的雪覆蓋著.
到了Horizon(山腰的雪道).
就是這樣子. 看來這雪季就是hiking渡過了.
