Thank you so much for your information on the hut. I went in this weekend and changed the wick for the kerosene heater. It now works properly, but the best way to shut the heater off is to press the shut off lever and turn the knob to minimum. If you do this twice, the wick will be extinguished and you won't have to put up with a horrible smell in the hut.
We also fixed the stoves so that both of them work properly. The key to making them work is to turn the little silver dial of the pump clockwise (to "open") before you start pumping it. If you don't open the pump then it won't work.
