..A man in his mid-fifties was rescued from Grouse Mountain off the trail of the Grouse Grind Tuesday afternoon after falling 150 feet, or about the length of a 14-storey building, down a gully...the hiker was found to have a fractured vertebra in his back..

Accident: Cypress Mountain - 2016.01

..The body of a snowboarder who went missing from Cypress Mountain ski resort in West Vancouver has been found near Horseshoe Bay, rescue officials have confirmed.

Accident: Sky Pilot Mountain - 2014.09

..On Saturday, Sept. 13, Michael Taylor slid 300 metres to his death while attempting to summit the Stadium Glacier on Sky Pilot with a friend. Although a doctor on scene administered CPR, the victim was deceased by the time rescue crews arrived approximately 45 minutes later, according to Squamish Search and Rescue manager Katy Chambers..Chambers believes Taylor and his climbing companion were using crampons for the first time on Saturday. Taylor was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Accident: Crown Mountain - 2014.09

.."He couldn't remember the details of the fall because he hit his head and blacked out," said Doug Pope, North Shore Rescue spokesman. "He had an obvious shoulder injury. It looked like a broken collarbone. He had a gash on his head."

North Shore Rescue sent in a helicopter long-line team with a stretcher to package up the 55-year-old victim. The chopper set the man and his rescuers down at the Capilano searchand-rescue station where B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics were waiting...

Accident: Norvan Falls  - 2016.05

..A hiker did not survive after falling into Norvan Falls and hitting his head during a hike on Sunday...the two 20-year-olds were wearing runners and light clothing, and carried no appropriate supplies, when they became lost on the difficult, snowbound trail in fading light and falling temperatures...

...The rescue was one of two carried out Sunday in North Vancouver as two unprepared hikers had to be airlifted from winter conditions on Crown Mountain, northwest of Grouse Mountain.

* Carry a GPS and know how to use it.
* Know your turn back time - you have to be comfortably back at the car at least 1 hour before sunset.
* Keep on established trails.
* Stay away from the edges.

...A 43-year old Vancouver hiker was badly injured and a fellow 21-year-old hiker was hurt in a 200-metre fall from a Squamish glacier Sunday afternoon..They were on their way up to Sky Pilot and were on Stadium Glacier...Both of them independently fell...The older hiker sustained massive head injuries and was transported by air ambulance to hospital in Vancouver, where he is currently in intensive care...
