NEXT TRIP (#25 ): NOV 14, 2017

THIS IS WINTER ALPINE EDITION!
Travelling with alpine backpack (will be scaled digitally, min 40lb, for shorter individuals 30Lb )

Objectives
--------------------------------------------------------------
Taking advantage of the current inclement weather:
a) Review Alpine Walk technique (https://www.crossna.org/forum.php?mod=redirect&ptid=28549)
b) Practice and test clothing layer system (should arrive to the chalet 100% warm and dry)
c) Practice making emergency snow shelter (tarp), as per "Freedom of The Hills"
d) Avalanche beacon search practice, as per "Freedom of The Hills"

Gear
--------------------------------------------------------------
Microspikes, full crampons, snowshoes.
Tarp, with guylines and snow anchors.
Bivy sack (or SOL or large plastic garbage bag).
Emergency foam mat.
Snow-shovel, snow saw, headlamp.
Avalanche beacon with plastic bag for burial.
Two-way radio (if you have).
Full face protection: buff, ski goggles, balaclava, face mask (if you have), toque, thick warm hat.
Full hands protection: liners, mitts, shells, hand warmers.
Full feet protection: alpine boots, gaiters, toe warmers.
Waterproof windproof Gore-Tex jacket and pants.
1L thermos with hot drink.

Mark, because weather is not so good, this trip is restricted, see below; it is rather a training (will be slow, cold and very boring), not a "regular" 1 hr hike. 8)
