At 14,410 feet(4392m), Mount Rainier 雷尼爾山 is the most prominent peak in the Cascade Range. It dominates the landscape of a large part of western Washington State. The mountain stands nearly three miles higher than the lowlands to the west and one and one-half miles higher than the adjacent mountains. It is an active volcano that last erupted approximately 150 years ago.
Mount Fuji in Japan is Mount Rainier's sister mountain. Visitors from Japan have noted a strong resemblance between the two volcanoes. Mount Rainier is honored to have a contingent of volunteers from Japan come to the park each year for two weeks to work on a project.
On July 29, 2011 after weeks of preparation, our team reached the summit of Mount Rainier at 10am via DC route (Disappointment Cleaver). Wind was gusting at 30km/h but it was an epic day on the mountain! |
