2017.04.11 The Stawamus Chief (contd.)
Tip: if you want to avoid crowds and have more fun, take climbers trail which starts at the notch between 1st and second peak. Hand rebar should be backed with a sling, or the consequences of a slip could be big, there is a memorial plaque at the end as a sober reminder.
A shorter and more adventurous variation drops off the southwest side of the First Summit and follows an obvious climbers trail along the south side of the peak and down a rebar ladder into the saddle/notch between the First and Second Summits. A warning sign in the notch cautions that this route is "not part of the recognized BC Parks trails system," "has a significant fall hazard," is used at one's "own risk" with "no liability" to the "Ministry of Environment"
